That Girl: Contractor edition

Today is my 1st week as a contractor. I’ve been a full time corporate girlie since graduating college. As an ADHDer, I build systems for my self to keep the bigger picture in mind. As a contractor, I’m being proactive about my success in this role and maximizing the time I do have. Hacking away!

Get organized with an “in your face” system

My personal device is Notion and my corporate tool is OneNote. I made a tracker/list/second brain/brain dump.

Examples of what I created in OneNote:

What I want to accomplish in 30 days
Never heard of a 30/60/90 day plan? Read about it here. You don’t have to reach for the stars. But it’s a PHENOMENAL way to start goals and tracking the metrics. An easy goal? Grab time with at least 10 people involved in your role. You can get very insightful info from them. It’s also the easiest and fastest way to build a network.

“Contractor Home Page”
– where is the cafeteria?
– what floor am I on?
– what number do I call for security?
(anything I could forget but didn’t want to take longer than 2 mins to get the answer)
– Where do I submit my time?

About This Role
Include in this section, ALL THE ACRONYMS. Include all the role expectations, org charts and project lists HERE. This is home for all reference docs and your learning space. This is you explaining everything in your own words

Meetings tab
All the OneNote girlies (IYKYK*) know that OneNote is GREAT for getting your meeting notes organized. You can pull in the attendees with any files. You can create a section for a frequent meeting. (Example: Tuesday Standup and make a separate page for each meeting)

*IYKYK = if you know, you know (slang)
